Gustav Otto

Gustav Otto is the founder of Gustav Otto Flugmaschinenwerke (1911), a plane of aircraft engines with which he was pioneered in Munich and Bavaria based on engines by his father Nikolaus August Otto. His company will be Bayerian Motoren Werke AG (BMW) on July 21, 1917 after a merger with Karl Rapp's Rapp Motorenwerke.

In 1918, Otto started a new factory under the name of Flottweg and started the production of motors and motorcycles called Flottweg (German for smooth road).
