Jan Erik Kongshaug

Jan Erik Kongshaug (Trondheim, July 4, 1944) is a Norwegian sound technician, producer and guitarist.

He grew up in Trondheim as a guitar player, and started himself on the accordion (1950), guitar (1958) and bass guitar (1964). He played in a combo aboard passenger ship MS Bergensfjord in 1963 and 1964. In 1963 he obtained an entrance examination for a study of electronics at the Trondheim University of Technology, which he graduated in 1967. After that he went to work in Oslo in Oslo; from 1967 to 1974 in the Arne Bendiksen Studio and from 1974 to 1979 in the Talent Studio. He then traveled up and down between Norway and his second home in New York.

In 1983, Kongshaug in Oslo started its own Rainbow Studio. Since then, he has recorded or supervised over 4,000 music albums, of which more than 700 pieces for the German record label ECM Records. This was due to the fact that ECM founder Manfred Eicher was very pleased with the sound of Keith Jarrett's first ECM album, Facing You. Kongshaug and his studio are known for the clarity of the recorded recordings.

Van Kongshaug also occasionally appears, but on a limited scale. Discography as musician
