Liverpool Cathedral

Not to be confused with Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral Anglican Cathedral of Liverpool. The Anglican Cathedral of Liverpool (officially the Church of Christ Cathedral and known as Liverpool Cathedral or Liverpool Anglican Cathedral), designed by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott, was begun in 1904 but was not completed until 1978, eighteen years after the death of Scott. The huge building is built in red sandstone, in an austere twentieth-century Gothic style that creates an atmosphere of mystical space for recollection.
