Punk Funk

Punk funk is a term created around the seventies and eighties to describe the fusion between funk and punk, sometimes punk rock and post-punk. The sound of punk funk revolves around a mutation in general of the original genres, accelerated funk bass lines, with soft bows and guitars that change the movement from fast to slow. Most battery lines are repetitive, similar to hip hop, sometimes including drum machines. Generally a mix is included between fast punk voices and funk voices, although sometimes rappers are included. The founding band of this genre is Red Hot Chili Peppers.

The groups are influenced by James Brown and George Clinton. However, possibly the first classification of the style was by Suicide in 1972, when they described to themselves like "Punk, Funk and Sewer Music by Suicide" (punk, funk and music of sewer by Suicide), although his music represents polar opposites. Many bands of the new wave and dance of the eighties, such as Haircut One Hundred and Romeo Void, were inspired by the pioneers of this genre. Sources
