Sagres Islands


The Sagres Islands (Illas de Sagres) is a Spanish archipelago of the province of La Coruña, located on the coast of the parish of Aguiño, Ribeira city council. Situated in front of Cape Falcoeiro, at the last end of the Barbanza peninsula, it is made up of more than a dozen small islands and islets, of which only two reach a certain extent (the largest is 5'4 hectares; archipelago adds 13.5 hectares). They are entirely rocky islands, even the largest, used for a rich shellfish and shallow fishing. Important colony of seabirds, especially cormorant and yellow-legged gull. Place plagued with stories of shipwrecks, being surrounded by shallow reefs and others that watch and unveil with the tide. It forms part of the National Park of the Atlantic Islands of Galicia.
