Spermatids are one of the stages of spermatogenesis. These are the products of the second division of meiosis, acting on the spermatocytes II; located near the lumen of the seminiferous tube, they are haploid cells with a chromatide, slightly elongated and which no longer divide; their clear nucleus presents a voluminous nucleolus; their cytoplasm is rich in mitochondria and presents a particular formation, the idiosome, which results from the coalescence of dictyosomes around the diplosome. After spermiogenesis, spermatids will give spermatozoa, which fall into the lumen of the seminiferous tube, a phenomenon called spermiation.
