La Batlloria is a village in the county of Sant Celoni, in the Vallés Oriental. It has a separate village structure 6 km from the center of the municipality, being the most populated outside this. Located in the valley that forms the river of the Tordera, between the massif of the Montseny and the mountain range of the Montnegre. It also has border between the province of Barcelona and Girona of the comarques of the Forest and the Maresme, to the limit with the municipal terms of Gualba and Riells and Viabrea. It has a total of 1218 inhabitants, made up of 632 men and 586 women, being thus the most populated population of the municipality of Sant Celoni. History
The Batlloria was well known for its hostel on foot of the old road that linked Girona and Barcelona, the royal road, which is therefore very busy. Being such a long trip, the trip was usually made in two days, so it was necessary to spend the night in half-way hostels (Vilalba Sasserra, Sant Celoni, Gualba de Baix, la Batlloria, Hostalric ...). This fact provided the growth of the nucleus of the population that experienced significant growth between the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries, giving rise to the Batlloria that we are currently familiar with. There are two major festivals, one in summer, specifically the fourth weekend in August, and the other in winter on December 18, commemorating the Virgin of Hope, the patroness of the population in which she is consecrated his parish church. The Unión Batllorienca association played an important role as organizer of parties and events. Founded in 1922, it built a new premises with bar and dance hall on the old road in 1965 which worked until 2002. In 2013 the Union Batllorienca has been recovered as a municipal cultural space. Every year for the month of May, the festival is celebrated - homage to old age with participation of the largest size. It has a colla of giants, formed by the giants Roc and Esperanza created in 1989. They form part of the grouping of the gegantera collas of Catalonia, but at the moment do not participate in the festive events since they do not have enough participants.
