Al Giedi (α Cap / α Capricorni) is a double optical star located in the constellation of Capricornus, its name comes from the Arabic الجدي al-jadiyy and siginifca "the goat" or in another meaning, "the boy".
The main component called α1 Capricorni is known as Prima Giedi and is actually a binary star formed by a yellow supergiant and an eighth magnitude star s 0.65 seconds of arc away.
The secondary component α2 Capricorni or Secunda Giedi is 0.11 degrees from α1 Capricorni, so it is separable to the naked eye, and is a yellow giant.
