The Cathedral-Basilica of Santa Maria is the main religious building of the city of Anagni (Lazio, Italy). It is dedicated to the Assumption of Mary. The beginning of the construction of the Cathedral of Anagni in its present form goes back to San Pedro de Salerno, bishop of Anagni from 1062 to 1105. In its crypt one of the most important cycles of frescoes of the Average Age is conserved Italian. These are more than 50 boxes and countless friezes that are part of a single project, the work of teachers and various workshops. The workshop of the so-called First Master, which can be traced back to the apocalyptic cycle and who was perhaps commissioned to carry out the whole project, is likely to work in the time of Innocent III, following the sensitivity and teaching of this Pope.

In this cathedral was canonized Santa Clara of Assisi, and also in this temple are the relics of San Magno de Anagni, patron of the city.
