Floyd "Chip" Ganassi (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania), May 24, 1958) is a former American car driver and current team of Chip Ganassi Racing. Career
Ganassi participated in 28 Champ Car races during his career as a driver. His best result was second in the Cleveland circuit in 1984 and a ninth place in the 1983 final championship. He participated five times in Indianapolis 500, his best finish was eighth place during the 1983 race. During the race on the Michigan International Speedway in 1984 he had a serious accident. He continued four races in 1985 and 1986 after which he stopped racing. After his active career as a car driver, he became the co-owner of the successful Chip Ganassi Racing, a team that participates in the NASCAR championships, Grand-Am championships and the IndyCar Series and formerly the Champ Car championship.
