A home robot is a robot that can perform certain functions in a household, also called domobot in English, to domestic (household) robots. There are different types of home robots ranging from low-level, for easy household tasks, to, for example, an autonomous operating robot connected to a Wi-Fi network or smart environment in the year 2008. Examples

Examples of so-called low-level robots are the robot lawn mowers, which independently mow the grass within a predetermined range and automatically search for their charging point when the battery starts to run out. Also for vacuuming, swimming pools, etc, a similar robot is on the market.

Another type of home robot takes many more moves and is especially suitable for people with disabilities. These robots, for example, can put the laundry in a washing machine, pull it out again, hang it up, or put it in the dryer. Another example is a robot that places the dirty dish in the dishwasher and eventually expels the clean dish and puts it in the right cabinets. These robots are often provided with a self-learning locating system, so they can find their own way in the house and do not clash anywhere.

Sony's electronic company dog AIBO is also counted as home robber. History

The home robot has been the futuristic dream of future predictors for many decades. Already in the 1960s, it was predicted that in 2000 many tasks would be taken over by robots. Eventually, the development turned out to be slightly slower than predicted.

A famous houseboat from history is Robie Rosie from The Jetsons television series. This series ironically describes life in the future. Since the first episode in 1962, Rosie was introduced as a home robot.
