A home robot is a robot that can perform certain functions in a household, also called domobot in English, to domestic (household) robots. Another type of home robot takes many more moves and is especially suitable for people with disabilities. These robots, for example, can put the laundry in a washing machine, pull it out again, hang it up, or put it in the dryer. Another example is a robot that places the dirty dish in the dishwasher and eventually expels the clean dish and puts it in the right cabinets. These robots are often provided with a self-learning locating system, so they can find their own way in the house and do not clash anywhere.

The home robot has been the futuristic dream of future predictors for many decades. Already in the 1960s, it was predicted that in 2000 many tasks would be taken over by robots. Eventually, the development turned out to be slightly slower than predicted.
A famous houseboat from history is Robie Rosie from The Jetsons television series. This series ironically describes life in the future. Since the first episode in 1962, Rosie was introduced as a home robot.
