Radnorshire

Arms of Radnorshire

Radnorshire (in Welsh: Sir Faesyfed) is one of 13 historic counties of Wales and includes central Powys. According to the 2011 census, the county had 25,821 inhabitants. Geography

It is bordered by Montgomeryshire and Shropshire, in the east by Herefordshire, in the south by Brecknockshire and in the west by Cardiganshire. New Radnor was the headquarters, although it shared some administrative powers with Presteigne. The area largely corresponded to the Welshe Rhwng Gwy a Hafren, which was annexed to England at the end of the 11th century. Radnorshire has always been a poor region, playing a modest role in history.
