Filonome (daughter of Nítimo)


In Greek mythology, Philemon was the only daughter of Arcadia and Nítimo, king of Arcadia. He was part of the retinue of Artemis, with whom he went through the woods in search of hunting. In one of these raids she was seduced by Ares, who had disguised himself as a shepherd. Having become pregnant after this relationship fled to the forest of Erimanto, where she gave birth to two twins, who threw to the river by fear of its father. The newborns were dragged to a hollow holm oak, where a wolf hiding them next to their litter. The children survived thanks to the animal until they were found by the shepherd Télefo or Gilifo, who adopted them and gave the names of Parrasio and Licasto. Over the years and after the metamorphosis of Arcas, the two children inherited the throne of their grandfather.
