Oenochoes

Oenochoë (collection of British Museum)

An oenocho (Old Greek: οἰνοχόη) or oinochoē is a type of vault in ancient Greek pottery. The oenochoe served as a donut for wine and became part of the permanent symposia service. Oenochoai usually have one vertically placed handle and a characteristic mouth in the form of a clover leaf. The oenocho also had a ritual function in libation.

At the symposium, the oenocho was used by an oenochoose (wine donor), a young boy who naked the guests of wine.
