A very famous image of Stefano Maderno is the image of the lying Saint Cecilia in the Basilica of Santa Cecilia in Trastevere, Rome. He made the image according to the physical surplus found at the opening of her grave in 1599. The image is made of white marble and also shows a cut in her neck. Saint Cecilia was decapitated after attempting to gasify her in vain. Artwork
