The Times (Chile, 1922-1934)


The Times was a Chilean evening newspaper published between September 14, 1922 and August 22, 1934. Its circulation was temporarily suspended between June 1931 and June 1932. After its cancellation (1934), it was again edited between February 16, 1953 and June 12, 1955. It was owned by La Empresa Periodística La Nation SA.

It was the first Chilean newspaper to use a tabloid size, with colors and photographs on its cover, as well as big headlines to highlight the news. Its content mainly referred to sports, shows, movies, police chronicles, cartoons, etc. It was also the first Chilean newspaper to give importance and to develop severely the police report. Its editorial and content formula was later widely used by the Graphic News. Bibliography
