Vjatsjeslav Tichonov


Vjatsjeslav Tichonov Vjatsjeslav Vasiljevich Tichonov (Russian: Вячеслав Васильевич Тихонов) (Pavlovski Posad, February 8, 1928 - Moscow, December 4, 2009) was a Russian actor, awarded the titles of "USSR Artist" (1974) and "Hero of the Socialist Labor" (1982).

Although he had made his film debut in 1948, he did not get well well known by the love drama. It happened in Penkovo ​​(1958) with Tichonov in the role of a charming village hunger.

His best known role for television was that of Standartenführer Stirlitz (a Soviet spy) in the series of Seventeen Moments in Spring. The 17 moments are 17 days in the spring of 1945 before the fall of Nazi Germany. The film was very popular in Soviet Russia. It was Joeri Andropov (the head of the KGB) himself who supported the broadcast of the series. Tichonov also played the role of Prince Andrej Bolkonski in the Oscar-winning film War and Peace (1968) by Sergej Bondartsjoek and the role of old man in another Oscar winner, Burned by the Sun (1994) by Nikita Michalkov.
