Koenraad I of Merano


Koenraad I of Merano (? - February 18, 1159) was the Duke of Merano (or Dalmatia) from 1153 until his death. He was the eldest of the two sons of Count Koenraad I of Dachau-Scheyern and Willibirg. As Koenraad II, he followed his father as Dachau-Spreyern's Count in 1152.

He also inherited in Dalmatia, formerly known as Carniola County Cemetery, who had inherited her from Adelaide (daughter of Poppo II of Carniola. In 1156, Koenraad Dachau-Scheyern transferred to his brother Arnold.

Koenraad was first married (before 1140) with Adelaide, a daughter of Hendrik I of Limburg, they had no children and she would die before 1146. He married Mathilde van Falkenstein for the second time and would receive one son, Merino Koenraad II, who became his successor in Merano and in 1172 would inherit Dachau.

Koenraad was killed in a battle in Bergamo and was buried in Scheyern. Also see
