The Further and Higher Education Acts 1992 are two acts of the British Parliament that have made profound changes to the organization and funding of higher education in the United Kingdom. The most important is the Polytechnic Institutes (Polytechnics), which thus officially obtain university status. These acts also create funds to finance higher education in England (Higher Education Funding Council for England and Further Education Funding Council for England).
