Use Weber Ilse Weber (Vítkovice, Moravia, January 11, 1903 - Auschwitz, (Polish: Oświęcim), October 6, 1944), born Herlinger, was a Jewish-Czech writer and composer.

Lifecycle

Weber wrote at the age of 14 Jewish children chores or small plays for children. These were published in various German, Czech, Austrian and Swiss newspapers.

In 1930 she married Willi Weber. Ilse Weber produced for Radio Prague programs. She saved her oldest son's life with her husband by bringing him to Sweden with a so-called child transport.

On February 6, 1942, she was deported from Prague to the Concentration Camp Theresienstadt. There she worked as a hospital nurse in the children's department of the hospital. During this time she also wrote further works and composed songs. Some of them were recorded by the Swedish mezzosoprano Anne Sofie von Otter and other artists in August 2007 under the title 'Terezín / Theresienstadt' on CD.

Ilse Weber was later brought to Auschwitz and was killed by the Nazis on October 6, 1944, together with her younger son Tommy. Working Compositions Vocal works
