Insect lamp

This article is a draft concerning insects.

You can share your knowledge by improving it (how?) as recommended by the entomology project. Outdoor anti-insect lamp, extinguished, by day. Inner insect lamp, lit, in the dark.

An insect lamp aims to attract and kill flying insects.

It consists of a lamp emitting light (visible and ultraviolet), surrounded by a metal grid with wires alternately connected to two high electrical potentials, which electrocutes insects, and outside a protective plastic grid integrated into the bracket.

Mosquitoes are only exceptionally the victims of such insect lamps because to go, they usually disdain light to focus on the carbon dioxide emitted by their prey, even in very low concentrations (up to only 50 parts per million).
