Ruben Rozendaal (Paramaribo, September 21, 1956) is a Surinamese former military who was involved in the military coup in Suriname in 1980, and suspect of the December killings.
During the coup, Rozendaal was in charge of military conquest of the naval conquest, the Memre Boekoe Kazerne, the main police station and the Ammunition bunker on the Dhoeki Road in Paramaribo.
During the December killings, Rozendaal was one of the four soldiers who took him home, according to the statement of the only survivor of the murders, Fred Derby. Rozendaal carried Derby on arrival to Paul Bhagwandas and Benny Brondenstein. After that he collected André Kamperveen along with the now-deceased Guno Mahadew. He would have picked up more people later.
After the coup, Rozendaal also became involved in drug trafficking in the so-called Surikartel. In October 1988, the Brazilian police entered an apartment in Brazil and found Bouterse, Rozendaal and Steven Dendoe who found out to be a big deal. The police had been tipped that this money would be intended to buy cocaine but could not get the evidence for it and could not make arrests by invading too early.
During the December murder trial, Rozendaal declared that on March 23, 2012, Desi Bouterse had killed personal Cyrill Daal and Surendre Rambocus. Previously, he witnessed a meeting on 8 May 2010 against Bouterse. Shortly after this session, Bouterse Rozendaal would have given ten thousand dollars.
