Caetaptism is the generic name of those currents of Christianity which have held that baptism is not necessary for salvation and should therefore be banished from practice for all kinds of people, especially for infants, that there is no capacity to make an act of faith, which is necessary to accommodate the soul to grace.
They are distinguished from the Anabaptists in the greater breadth of the circle of subjects in which the administration of baptism should be discarded, since the latter only reject it for infants.
