Zijmorene

A sideworm at the Tschierva glaciers in Engadin.

A side marrow is the name for the debris masses deposited by a glacier in a different direction from that of the glacier itself. Based on their height, the power of the freeze can be reconstructed. In the more recent geomorphology, the concept is no longer used, as it is proven that the distinction between lateral mothers and endmothers is not meaningful. Only endmothers are talking about homogeneous development of composition and structure.

The concept of lateral mores is only used for still deposited but strongly formed remains of rocks that spread over hill ridge past the current glaciers and the glacier locations in the high mountains. An example of this is the glacial series in the foothills of the Alps. Also see
