Maurice Gilbert is a Belgian Jesuit, theologian and exegete, born in 1934.

He taught at the Catholic University of Louvain (1971-1978), at the Pontifical Biblical Institute (1975-1993), at the French Biblical and Archaeological School of Jerusalem (1984-1993). Currently teaches at the Pontifical Biblical Institute of Rome.

He was rector of the Pontifical Biblical Institute of Rome (1978-1984), of the Pontifical Biblical Institute of Jerusalem (1984-1992), and of the University Faculty of Our Lady of Peace (FUNDP) in Namur in Belgium (1993-1999).
