The Rockall Trough or Rockall Basin is a large (approximately 800 km by 150 km) sedimentary basin that extends to the west of Ireland and Great Britain under the known major deepwater zone like the Rockall Pit. It is named after a rocky island called Rockall located 301.4 km west of St. Kilda.

Part of the Rockall Trench is named after R. R. Tolkien's world, such as Eriador Seamount, Rohan Seamount, Gondor Seamount, Fangorn Bank, Edoras Bank, Lorien Knoll, Isengard Ridg
