Suisei (space probe)

Suisei probe

The Suisei (called before its launch PLANET-A) was a Japanese space probe launched on August 18, 1985 aboard an M-3SII-2 rocket, from the Space Center of Kagoshima. Its launch was the responsibility of the Institute of Space and Astronautical Science (ISAS), currently integrated into JAXA.

His target, like that of his twin probe, the Sakigake, was a close encounter with comet Halley. On March 8, 1986 the probe reached its closest point to the comet, which was 152,400 km. Technical data
