The Argus Electoral Newspaper is a newspaper founded by Charles Mondelet, printed and published by Ludger Duvernay. This periodical appeared from August 30, 1826 to November 30, 1826 in Trois-Rivières, and from July 24, 1827 to March 11, 1828 in Montreal.

The first edition appeared during an election campaign in the "county" of Trois-Rivières. In it, this newspaper supports Canadian party candidate Pierre-Benjamin Dumoulin against his anti-Canadian opponent, Charles Richard Ogden. After the victory of the latter, Argus denounces the conduct of the elections, which were in his view determined by several irregularities. The publisher certainly hoped to awaken a more democratic consciousness in the population.

The unusual name given to this log results from this strategy.
