How strong is the lonely cyclist

How strong is the lonely cyclist is the fifth album of Boudewijn de Groot, published in September 1973. The album title is from the song Jimmy, that De Groot named his son. Together they can be seen on the album cover. The texts are from Lennaert Nijgh and Ruud Engelander, De Groot's then brother-in-law. Two songs are translations of poems by William Blake.

Eelco Gelling, with whom De Groot previously worked together on Night and Ontij, sologitaar, takes care of various songs. The number The traveler contains a guest contribution from Vera Beths on Violin.

Boudewijn received a gold and a platinum plate for his album and his third Edison. The album was in the album list for 20 weeks and reached the first place.

Begin 1974, a carnival version of the song Aunt Julia appeared on single, recorded as a duet with Nico Haak.

In 2003, the album appeared on sacd. Tracklist Nijgh and De Groot with platinum plate (1973)
