The Nordic Family Book ("Nordic Family Book") is a Swedish encyclopedia, published between 1876 and 1957.

The first edition was published in 20 parts between 1876 and 1899 and is known as the "Iðunn edition" because of Iðunn's image on the cover. The second edition was published between 1904 and 1926 and comprised 38 parts. It is therefore the most comprehensive encyclopedia published in the Swedish language. This second edition is known as the Owl Edition ("Owl Edition") because of an owl on the cover. Two other editions were released before 1957. The first two editions are now in the public domain.

In the 90's, Linköping University started Project Runeberg. She wanted digital copies of old Scandinavian books, such as Project Gutenberg, this aim for English literature. In 2001, OCR ("Optical Character Recognition") was able to start scanning the 45,000 pages. In the meantime, they are available online (see link below). Externe link
