Asocial Behaviour

Asocratic behavior is a form of public behavior that does not take into account other people or the environment. Such behavior is often seen by other people as a nuisance (for example, someone who hurts his music to the neighbors) to even dangerous (for example, a motorist who does not take into account other road users). In the Netherlands, in the daily language, someone who exhibits asocratic behavior is often called an "aso" or "hufter". In extreme situations, however, separate lodgings or residential containers are required, which should be far from civil settlements. A Dutch parliamentarian even pleaded for towns.

Asocratic behavior can be conscious, as in the case of vandalism, but also unconsciously by ignorance or indifference. An antisocial personality disorder can also contribute to asocial behavior.

Both asocratic and social behavior is experienced by every person. Very young children like toddlers can sometimes act asocratic behavior, but this is usually accepted because these children are still too young and have not yet developed a theory of mind to know the difference between both behaviors. Usually children are only able to distinguish between social and social behavior from their fourth / fifth year of life.

In addition to everyday life, there is also aesthetic behavior on, for example, internet such as trolls.

Asocratic behavior often has annoying consequences for the immediate environment of the person who exhibits this behavior. In 2009, SIRE launched an action to unconsciously asocratic behavior in the Netherlands.
