Benamegís

Not to be confused with Benameji.

Benamegís or Benamejís was a place near Señera, in the province of Valencia (Comunidad Valenciana, Spain). Its origin seems to be in an Andalusian farmhouse that was señorío of the Sanç of Játiva and ended up being head of the marquesado of Benamegís and of his Moorish rectory, that included the church of Señera.El marquesado counted on 47 neighbors in 1572 and 54 in 1609, the year in which the expulsion of the Moors took place. The territory was totally deserted and only repopulated Señera (in 1611), so today there is scarcely a record of the population.
