The new church
The Monastery of Xenophontos (Μονή Ξενοφώντος) is an Orthodox monastery on Mount Athos, Greece. It is the sixteenth monastery of the hierarchy of the monasteries of the Sacred Mountain. It is located on the western coast between the Mosnaterios of San Pandeleimonos and Dochiariou.
It was founded at the end of the 11th century. It is dedicated to Saint George that is celebrated on April 23 according to the Gregorian calendar (May 6 according to the Julian calendar). The library contains 300 manuscripts and around 4,000 printed books. About 30 monks live in the monastery. Bibliography
