Network of European Technocrats

The Network of European Technocrats is an organization that promotes a technocratic movement within the European context, as an alternative socio-economic system for a sustainable future. The organization is registered in Sweden but has a membership base throughout Europe and accepts members from other continents. The organization can be considered as an extension of the North American technocratic movement; however, it is independent of this.

Creation

A group of Europeans inspired by the technocratic movement met in 2005 with the intention of disseminating technocratic ideas in that part of the world and created NET (Initials in English) as an association in April 2006. Organization

NET has a holonic structure based on autonomous groups, but also has a board of directors responsible for the general direction of the movement. Currently the board is composed of a director and heads of three sequences, administration, research and finance. The head office is in Umeå, Sweden, where executive director Andrew Wallace resides. The current director was elected on September 25, 2006. Goals and objectives

The goal of technocracy is to provide people with the highest possible standard of living for as long as possible. NET tries to promote technocracy and develop a scientific and technocratic plan for Europe. As Technocracy is defined as science applied to society, NET aspires to validate its plans by conducting experiments and simulations in technocracy. European technocratic plan

The plan for Europe is in the development stage. This includes the organization of sustainable communities called Eco-Unidades (20 people), which will have a certain degree of self-sufficiency in energy production, waste management and food production. These eco-units would be grouped in Urbanatos (10,000 people). The eco-units and the urban ones would have an additional capacity to produce goods for local consumption. The urbanatos would be autonomous units that would form networks with other urbanatos when it is required.
