Niels Red


Niels Red (Velp (Gelderland), May 4, 1962) is a Dutch writer of thrillers and children's books. He is also an entrepreneur.

Together with his sister Lydia Red, he wrote seven thrillers, one of whom was nominated for the Golden Tie in the nineties. Nowadays he writes children's books. His first children's book was De Plunderpiraat (2007), a reading-bookbook together with illustrator Annet Schaap. Slim White Feather and the Storm Bird is a book about a young Lakota Indian, which appeared in 2007. In November 2008, "Night Search," with drawings by Els van Egeraat appeared. In 2009, "SOS Dolphins" originated in Curaçao. In the same year, the youth thriller "Forever disappeared" appeared again with his sister. In spring 2010 two new dolphin books appeared: "Dolphin in danger" and "Dolphin abducted". In the summer of 2010, "Paniek in the Toko" appeared, a book about four enterprising children, who was placed on the leaderboard of the Dutch Child Jury. The successor, Paniek in the Night Factory, appeared in 2011. In the dolphin series, "Dolphin wounded" came out in 2010 and "Dolphin looking" in 2011. In January 2011, "The Flying Dutchman" came out, a reading book with illustrations by Yke Reeder .

Niels Red is the father of two daughters. He lives in Eemnes and served as councilor for D66 from March 2010 until April 2013. Since April 2014 he is an elder in his place of residence. Externe link
