A gossip, also spelled as chotspe, is a term that is the meaning of 'boldness' and '(gross) indifference', and is comparable to the ancient Greek 'hybris'. The first documented use of 'gotspe' in written Dutch dates from 1937.
Classic example of a gotspe: Someone who kills his father and mother, and then the judge asks for clementie because he is.
'Gotspe' is also used in the Dutch language, as well as the English variant 'chutzpah'. The German 'Chuzpe' and the Polish 'hucpa' are only available in the spoken language. In Polish, 'hucpa' next to bravoure also has the meaning of 'fraud'. etymology
