Keshan's disease

Keshan's disease is a rare cardiomyopathy secondary to selenium deficiency associated with a coxsackie viral infection.

His name comes from the region of Keshan, China, where the first cases were described. Locally grown cereals are particularly poor in selenium.

The role of viral infection has been suspected in the presence of coxsackie virus in many affected hearts.

Selenium supplementation in Keshan children has eliminated the disease. Notes and edit the code
