Manuel Justo de Rubalcava (1769-1805) was a Cuban poet born in Santiago de Cuba on August 9, 1769. In addition to the lyrics, he also cultivated other artistic expressions such as painting and sculpture. Being military, participated in the Taking of Bayajá (at present, Strong Freedom) forming part of Regimiento Cantabria. After leaving the military career, he travels through Santo Domingo and Puerto Rico, where he remains for a year. Already settled in Havana, he makes friends with the Havana poet Manuel de Zequeira and Arango. Both, along with the poet and military man from Santiago Manuel María Pérez and Ramírez, make up the colloquially called group of the three Manueles.

Manuel Justo de Rubalcava died in Santiago de Cuba on November 4, 1805. His works were compiled and edited posthumously by the Venezuelan Luis Alejandro Baralt in 1848 under the title Poesías de Manuel Justo de Rubalcava.
