Meroterpenoides

Meroterpenoids are the secondary metabolites of plants that have only partially derived origins of terpenoids. For example, both cytokinins and numerous phenylpropanoids contain side chains of a 5-carbon isoprenoid. Some alkaloids, such as the anticancer drugs vincristine and vinblastine, contain terpenoid fragments in their structures. In addition some modified proteins include a 15 or 20 carbon side chain which is a terpenoid, which is the one that anchors the protein to the membrane.
