Screw pump

Screw pump Screw pumps of the polder mill Waardenburg

A screw pump is a pump for pumping liquids. A screw pump consists of a tube that rotates a screw that looks like a ship screw. Due to the resulting pressure difference, the fluid is moving. Usually the screw shaft is positioned vertically and makes the tube 90 degrees. The screw shaft then extends into the bend through a seal through the tube. In this manner, the screw can be driven by an engine placed above or next to the pump. Screw pumps have a low lifting height and require a lot of power.
