For the homonymous gas compound, see Stibbon.

Stibnite, also called antimonite or stibinite, is a Group II mineral (sulphides), according to the Strunz classification. It is the main ore of antimony, relatively rare metal (0.2 per million in the earth's crust) and toxic element used to harden metal alloys for supports, battery terminals and semiconductors. There are elongated radial crystals of stibnite, or solid forms, which can be confused with galena, but the crystal form of the stibnin is distinctive, like its low melting point.

It is associated with other sulfides in hydrothermal veins, thermal water deposits and within limestone. Most of its annual production comes from China.
