Samuel Sheinbein (1980 - February 23, 2014) was a convicted US-Israeli murderer. On September 16, 1997, Sheinbein and a former classmate, Aaron Benjamin Needle, at the E. Smith Jewish Day School Charles, killed Alfredo Enrique Tello, Jr. then dismembered and burned his body in Aspen Hill, Maryland. Sheinbein fled to Israel, where he was eligible for citizenship, and he managed to avoid extradition to the United States on the basis of a law prohibiting the extradition of Israeli nationals from Israel. Sheinbein, whose case tense relations between the United States and Israel, was sentenced to 24 years in prison by an Israeli court. The case of Sheinbein prompted a reform of Israel's extradition law.

In 2014, Sheinbein died in a shootout with the police after he opened fire on the guards and participated in a clash with the authorities. Confrontation and death

On February 23, 2014, Sheinbein was killed in a shootout at the Rimonim prison. The incident began when Sheinbein, who was being moved from one cell to another, made a stop in the bathroom, then pulled out a gun and fired at the two guards who were escorting him, seriously injuring them. Then he barricaded himself in the bathroom. A special police unit at that time was called, and a confrontation ensued, with the police trying to negotiate with Sheinbein. After an hour, Sheinbein opened fire on the police taking positions around the room, slightly injuring an officer. The cops responded to the shooting, fatally wounding Sheinbein. Despite medical attention, Sheinbein died soon after. The authorities are investigating the shooting, and it is not yet known how Sheinbein acquired the weapon.
