Antonio Rizzo went down in history because of his tragic death. In front of a Venetian ship, he had left the Black Sea to return to Venice, but when he arrived near Constantinople he did not stop at the Ottoman Empire checkpoint, and then the ship was attacked by the terrible bombardment of Urban of Transylvania. Antonio along with some survivors managed to reach the coast, but there they were waiting for the Ottoman Janenaries, who killed everyone in the place, with the exception of Rizzo who was later impaled. This shook the whole Christian world a lot, and even more the agonizing Byzantine Empire. As a result of his assassination the Republic of Venice decided to intervene in favor of the Byzantine Empire, while maintaining diplomatic relations with the Turks. Sources
