Castillo de Castellonet

Castellonet Castle was a fortress located in the Valencian term of the same name. Its only current rest is an arch located between two houses of the lower part of the town, next to the municipal laundry. This arch, known as Puerta Albacara is well of cultural interest. Description

At the beginning of the 21st century there is very little left of this fortification, despite the local symbolism reflected in the name of the town itself. It is possible that parts of the Palace of the Marquis of Almunia were former elements of the castle. In the 1950s the arch was dismantled and rebuilt piece to piece, widening its width to enable the passage of motor vehicles. History

Castellonet is a Christian foundation.

The castle is presumed to have been built in the 15th or 16th centuries.

The castle has had several owners, such as the Boix or the Santa Fe, finishing in the hands of the Marquis of Vellisca.
