Eco-museum living in Provence

The living eco-museum of Provence is a small museum located in France in the municipality of La Gaude, in the Alpes-Maritimes department.

Founded by the entomologist Ib Schmedes, it is dedicated to the fauna and flora Provençale.

It is composed of a vivarium inside a building (called "La Coupole"), which presents insects, amphibians and reptiles, mainly from the South of France, as well as a small garden of Mediterranean plants outside, where are also arranged some pens for reptiles of the region (snakes, lizards, turtles).

Its vocation is to make known the nature of Provence and Côte d'Azur, in particular the most unknown and despised animals (reptiles, insects ...), and to sensitize the public to their ecological role and to the necessity to protect them. code edit code
