Joseph Haydn wrote few concertos. Of the eleven works identified in chapter XVIII of the Hoboken catalog as a keyboard concerto, ten are early works composed in the 1750s or very shortly after his engagement with Prince Esterházy. Only concerto n 11 was written in the period of maturity between 1780-1784.

It should be noted that most concertos can be played on the organ or harpsichord (piano). Only n 3 (in F), 4 (in sol) and 11 (in D) are only for the harpsichord (piano).

The n 9 is apocryphal and the n 7 is an arrangement of the trio for keyboard, violin and cello n 6 by the same composer.
