Quantities, Units and Symbols in Physical Chemistry

Quantities, Units and Symbols in Physical Chemistry, Third Edition (ISBN 978-0-85404-433-7), also known as the "Green Book", is a book published in August 2007 by the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) listing most of the fundamental constants, data and nomenclature in the fields of chemistry and physics. The information contained in the Green Book is a summary of the recommendations of IUPAC, IUPAP and ISO, including some of the IUPAP Red Book and ISO 31 standards.

The first two editions of Quantities, Units and Symbols in Physical Chemistry (2: (ISBN 0-632-03583-8) only established chemical nomenclature standards.

Green Books are the direct successors of the Manual of Symbols and Terminology for Pheysicochemical Quantities and Units, written in 1969 by ML McGlashen, a member of the Physical Chemistry Division of the Canadian Institute of Chemistry and Physical Chemistry. IUPAC. A complete history of Green Books is given in the historical introduction to the 3rd edition. code edit code
