Shifu

Master is a Chinese term that is translated primarily as 'adoptive parent' can also be translated as 'teacher' or 'teacher'. Although it can be applied in various fields, it is especially used in the world of martial arts. Using Chinese characters can be written in two ways that are pronounced the same: Traditionally, in the world of Chinese martial arts, the fact that a person studied with a teacher did not automatically make him his disciple. To be considered as such it was necessary to go through a ceremony called baishi (拜师, 拜師, "honor, venerate, the master"). It was only after this ritual that a student could call his master shifu, and it was from this moment on that he began to transmit all his knowledge to the student, who in turn became the transmitter of the tradition for the next generation. Outside the "Martial Family" this term is also used. Within the blood ties this terminology is translated as "Father". Used even to this day.
