Anton Schotanus


Anton Schotanus (Leeuwarden, January 4, 1943) is a Dutch dammer who is a member of Damclub Huizum. He is in possession of the titles FMJD Master and National Master. He became a French champion in 1985, 1987, 1988, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1998, 2003 and 2008 and participated in the Dutch championship of dams in 1968, 1971, 1972, 1975, 1988 and 1989. He acquired special fame in the correspondence dams in which he became Dutch champion in 1965, 1984 and 1987 and in 1988 world champion. On 30 June 2008 he obtained his masterbulb for history at the University of Groningen. Until his retirement in 2004, he was a German teacher in a daily community in Heerenveen, where he worked a lot with the so-called Delft method. This method teaches the language in a natural way.
