Bennett (18 August 1811 - 7 December 1855) is a soldier who served in the United States Army and was a captain in Oregon. Later, he was present at the discovery of gold in California in January 1848 which was at the origin of the gold rush. He opened a hotel in Oregon and died during the Indian wars. He was then captain of cavalry.
